We wrote this policy in plain language on purpose. No legal jargon, no hidden surprises — just a clear explanation of what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Tax Day Tracker is developed by Ragnar Apps, based in Portugal. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can reach us at taxdaytracker@ragnarapps.com.
Trip and earnings data — vessel names, companies, countries, dates, pay rates, and earnings you enter. This is stored on your device. We do not receive or store it, with one narrow exception explained under "Exporting to Excel" below.
Profile information (optional) — if you choose to fill in your profile, we collect:
You don't have to fill in any of this to use the app. Trip tracking, the 183-day counter, the 60-day streak, the SAT timer, backup, and Excel export all work without a profile.
We do not collect:
If you fill in your profile and email address, depending on which boxes you tick, we may use it to:
Each of these is a separate checkbox. Ticking one does not tick the others. You can change your mind at any time in the Profile screen.
Your trip and earnings data stays on your device. We don't have a copy.
Your profile details — only if you fill them in and tick at least one consent box — are sent to and stored in our dedicated Tax Day Tracker database (hosted on Supabase). We store only your name, email, job title, years of experience, and which boxes you ticked. This database is isolated from our other systems and is used solely to contact you in the ways you consented to.
When you use the Excel export feature, your trip and earnings data is sent to our server to generate the spreadsheet file, which is then returned to your device. We do not store this data — it passes through only to build your file, and is not retained afterwards. This step requires an internet connection.
To convert earnings between currencies, the app also requests historical exchange rates from Frankfurter, a free public exchange-rate service. Only a date and currency codes are sent for this — none of your personal or earnings data is sent to Frankfurter.
The app lets you save a backup file of your own data and import it onto another device. This file is created and moved entirely by you (via your own email, messaging, or cloud storage). It does not pass through us.
You can, at any time:
If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, these rights are guaranteed under GDPR. If you're elsewhere, we apply the same standard to everyone regardless of where you live.
If Tax Day Tracker offers a paid tier and you subscribe, your payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not see or store your card details. We only receive confirmation that you have an active subscription.
Tax Day Tracker is intended for offshore workers, divers, and maritime crew — all of whom must be adults to work in these industries. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
If we make significant changes — especially anything affecting the optional consent boxes — we'll notify you in the app and ask you to review your choices again.
